Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
Introduction
This privacy policy applies to the Radioka mobile app (com.eranyadigital.yradio) published by Eranya Digital ("we", "us"). Radioka — Live radio from your kota and from around the world: browse stations, drop in, and listen.
This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and the choices you have. By using Radioka you agree to this policy.
Information We Collect
Radioka does not require an account and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or contacts.
Beyond the device permissions described below, Radioka collects no analytics, advertising, or diagnostic data.
Device Permissions
Radioka requests the following permissions, and only for the reasons stated:
- Approximate location (while in use): Optional, and requested only when you choose to turn on "Near me" — from the last card of the first-run walkthrough or from Settings. It narrows station suggestions to your kota or kabupaten. Radioka is fully usable when you decline — it then falls back to the country from your device's language settings — and it keeps no location history.
- Internet access: Required to fetch the station directory and to play a station's audio stream.
- Microphone (iOS, declared but never used): Radioka never records and never turns on the microphone. iOS requires the declaration only because the audio engine that plays radio streams links Apple's shared audio-session framework, which includes microphone APIs. The app never asks you for this permission.
- Foreground service and wake lock (Android): Keeps playback and its notification controls alive when the screen is off or you switch to another app. Without them Android would stop the audio mid-song.
Formerly published as Yradio
Radioka was previously named Yradio. It is the same app, with the same app ID (com.eranyadigital.yradio) and the same data practices described on this page.
There is no account, and no Eranya server
Radioka has no sign-in and no back end of ours. Your favourites, the station locked for trips, your settings, and recently played stations are stored only on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app. We operate no server that receives your listening activity, and the app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDK.
Where the station list comes from
Radioka's catalogue is the community-run Radio Browser directory. When you browse or search, your device requests station metadata from its public mirrors; those requests reach the directory's operators as ordinary web requests, including your device's IP address, under their own terms. When you play a station, the app also tells the directory which station was played — the station's ID and nothing else — which is how the directory ranks stations as trending. Radioka sends no identifier, no favourites, and nothing describing you.
Playing a station connects you directly to the broadcaster
When you press play, your device opens a connection to that station's own streaming server, not to us. The broadcaster — and whoever hosts their stream — can see your IP address and that you are listening, exactly as they could if you opened the stream in a web browser. Many radio streams are still delivered over plain, unencrypted HTTP because that is what the broadcaster provides; Radioka cannot secure a stream a station does not offer securely.
Your location is used once, on your device, and then discarded
If you grant approximate location, Radioka works out which kota or kabupaten you are in by comparing your coarse position against the station catalogue already stored in the app. There is no geocoding service involved: your coordinates are never sent to us, to the station directory, or to anyone else. The result is a place name, the position itself is discarded, and no location history is kept.
Voice, Apple Watch, CarPlay, and Mac
Siri and Google Assistant turn your speech into text on the platform's side under Apple's or Google's own policies; Radioka receives only the resulting phrase (such as "play jazz") and interprets it on your device. The Apple Watch and Wear OS apps send your button presses to Radioka on your paired phone and nowhere else. CarPlay, Android Auto, the Lock Screen, widgets, and the Mac menu bar are controls for the same player on your device and add no data collection of their own.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide the app's features
- To fix bugs and improve stability and performance
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
Radioka uses the following third-party services, which process data under their own privacy policies:
- Radio Browser: The community-run station directory (all.api.radio-browser.info) that Radioka searches for station names, genres, countries, and stream addresses, and to which it reports which station was played.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your settings and app data are stored only on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app.
Security
The station directory is reached over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Audio streams are served by each broadcaster, and many still use plain, unencrypted HTTP; Radioka plays them as provided, and nothing about you is sent over them beyond the ordinary connection itself.
Children's Privacy
Radioka is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
